2–4 March 2021, Tobias Koch – Chamber Music
The first exhibition in the new space of Lateral Roma, located in the Roman neighbourhood of Appio-Latino, brings together four sound works by artists Tobias Koch, Rada Koželj, Double Goocher Shop and Semuel Lala. Each artist’s work can be heard for three days, inviting visitors to concentrated listening sessions.
From 2–4 March, Tobias Koch presents Chamber Music (2021), a soundtrack that chronicles signs, objects, and messages based on Bifo Berardi’s writings on the “age of imaginaries”. Sequences of musical instrumentation are overlayed with binaural field recordings and rendered to multi-dimensional soundscapes. Replicating distinct characteristics of baroque, Chamber Music becomes a sonic echo chamber that has no beginning and no end, sowing narratives by relying on the spatial-temporal experience of listening.
Tobias Koch (*1986) is a Swiss composer and sound artist based in Basel and Berlin. His work spans across various disciplines including performance, visual arts, film, and music.
